20,304,000

April has ended, and with it 235 days or 5,640 hours or 338,400 minutes or 20,304,000 seconds lived in Nakuru, Kenya since July 2014.

Each second has been a journey - of excitement, anxiety, joy, tears, hellos, good-byes, of learning as well as teaching.

Time is going by too quickly now.  In three weeks one of my girls will spend her last day in the classroom as she, her mom, and younger sister will be leaving for their break time in America.  Two and a half weeks after that school will end.  I leave only a little later in June.

This week we said good-bye yet again.  This time to Brie, whose season here in Kenya had come to an end.  Once again the hallway upstairs echoes at night as I am the only one living in a room right now.

The time has been too short to truly learn about or understand the culture of Kenya.  Living here though is very different from coming on short-term mission trips and builds a better understanding and appreciation of life in a Kenya city.  Through conversations and questions I have gotten glimpses into life in the villages, a little grasp of the legal system, and the need for survival.

To have a ministry here or anywhere is to truly understand the people you want to share the good news of Jesus Christ with and to become a part of their lives-across the world or across the street.
