Celebrations

Celebrating the special moments - birthdays, holidays - is something most people look forward to doing.  It fills us with joy and anticipation.  Over the last two weeks we have had a lot of celebrating going on here.

Going back to October 31 - Halloween in the USA - and we celebrated here with the toddlers.  The girls dressed up in costumes, the moms brought cupcakes, frosting, and sprinkles and we had a fun, fancy snack together.

In the evening there was a party at the home of one of my students.  Craft projects for the kids, great food and treats for everyone...

 and then a piñata - one box filled with candy.  The outside is not the important part.  The kids and adults had a very fun evening.

We celebrated Kennedy's birthday - a little late - but he was so excited to have a time "for Kennedy", the date did not matter.  Ice cream was served and this was a first for the toddlers.  They dug right in and obviously enjoyed the treat.

And there is always celebration and rejoicing when a baby left abandoned is found and brought to the safety of the baby house.  Meet Jude.

We celebrated Lucy's birthday in the classroom and at a party at her home.  Lucy is one of my students - and now she is five.

Even today, last day of school, was a celebration of all I have seen here so far, of the people I have met, of the accomplishments of my girls and the blessings given.  And now I think I will go and join the babies one last time on the lawn before leaving for the airport.  Next celebration will be getting off the plane in Houston.
