Dirty are the Feet

Isaiah 52:7  "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, "Your God reigns!"

Well, maybe not so much during the hot, dry season in Kenya......
After walking down the road, and around the Lake Elmenteita area on a field trip, my once gray shoes were streaked with dust and my feet were very dirty.

The dry season means dust, lots of dust.  Sometimes I look down at my jeans and wonder how I got that much dirt on them.  The sun is HOT, but the shade still feels comfortable and in the evening the air cools and a breeze comes through my room.  So for a season the dust is part of the day.

Like the stream bursting forth in a desert rain, you can still hear the laughter of the children floating on the night air, there was the splashing in the lake with shouts of happiness, then the cry of a baby, and today seeing the joy of new parents meet their child for the first time.  The season may be dry and dusty, but God's work goes on and those who do it continue to serve Him.

The Field Trip

Came home hot, slightly burned, dirty, and tired but the field trip on Tuesday was fun.  We went to the end of the lake where the hot springs are due to the steam escaping from underground.  Ate lunch with an awesome view of the lake and took a stop at the little museum.

Lake Elmenteita - about thirty minutes from Nakuru.

The water was warm and shallow so all of the children could easily get in and have fun.
My girls taking a ride in the boat-they all wanted a turn to row.
Last stop was the little museum area - this is a hippo skull.
And tomorrow.....Snow Day in the middle of hot and dry.  Imagination is a wonderful gift.
